The name Luca — Say it out loud once: Luca. There's no catch in it, no consonant cluster to trip over at 8 p.m. when you've promised just one more chapter. Italian in origin, meaning "light," it's been climbing steadily up the US charts — it hit the top 30 not long ago — and the sound alone probably has something to do with that. The Pixar film gave the name some extra shine, but Luca existed long before any animated sea-creature adventure, and it'll outlast it. It's bright without being loud.
What makes Luca work so well in a personalized book is the way it sounds in motion. "Luca swam through the kelp forest." "Luca followed the glowing trail." It never fights the sentence — it leads it. The name's meaning, light, gives a story natural direction: something to follow, something to carry, something to bring into a dark place. For a boy whose name literally means light, building a story around that thread isn't a stretch. It's almost too perfect.
A story idea for Luca — Deep beneath a glowing reef, something has gone dark — the bioluminescent fish that light the way home for every creature in the ocean have lost their glow. Only Luca can swim through the pitch-black canyon to find the source. Armed with his curiosity and one very brave little jellyfish, he sets off to bring the light back.

Your son will be the star, built from his actual photo and interests — not a stand-in for any character someone else created. The ocean themes are on the table because they suit the name and resonate with a lot of kids, but the story scenes, the challenges he faces, the creatures he meets — all of that comes from your inputs, not a script.
They really do. The Underwater Adventure theme in particular plays beautifully with the idea of light — bioluminescent creatures, glowing coral, the way sunlight filters down through deep water. Your boy's name becomes more than a label in the story; it becomes something the narrative can literally illustrate.
